Is Trump’s Two-Week Timeline for Ending the Iran War Realistic?

The latest declarations from the White House have sent shockwaves through global markets, as President Donald Trump suggests the U.S. could wind down its military campaign against Iran within two to three weeks. However, as domestic petrol prices climb past $4 a gallon and the Strait of Hormuz remains a volatile chokepoint, many are questioning if this mission accomplished narrative is premature. The reality on the ground characterized by a lack of formal negotiations and a mowing the lawn military strategy suggests that ending this conflict will be far more complex than a simple withdrawal. The Stone Age Strategy: Defining the U.S. Military Objective President Trump has pivoted from seeking a diplomatic grand bargain to a strategy of pure attrition. By stating that a deal is no longer necessary, he has redefined success as the degradation of Iran’s capabilities to the point of being put into the Stone Ages. This shift signals an Israelization of American war aims, where the goal is n...

Pakistan and UAE will enhance air connectivity by opening new routes for flights.

Pakistan and the UAE have agreed on improving the airlift connectivity between the two nations with an intent to further enhance their bilateral cooperation and provide enhanced travel options. The agreement has been reached by Pakistan's ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, in talks held with the relevant authorities of UAE. The entry of more low-cost airlines in the country will raise accessibility and affordability for passengers. This is likely to be of great benefit to the passengers and further increase the bilateral ties.  Under the agreement, Pakistan's private airline AirSial is set to commence its operations from Abu Dhabi to three major cities of Pakistan.

Wizz Air, the low-cost carrier based in the UAE, will also be operative between Abu Dhabi and two Pakistani cities. The airlines are likely to start operating new routes in the following two to three months, after which they will communicate specific schedules and routes. These routes will provide much-needed affordable travel options for people and thus promote the increasing need for connectivity between the two countries. Today, eight airlines operate scheduled services between Pakistan and the UAE. These include Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Fly Jinnah, Air Arabia, Serene Air, and Air Blue. AirSial and Wizz Air would further facilitate this network by adding more choices for passengers, with competitive prices and improved convenience. It would not only help the traveler, be it a tourist or an expatriate, but also improve trade and business. Officials have said that this agreement goes beyond improving air travel timetables. It has much to do with mutual trade and investment between these two countries and cultural interactions as well. The improved connectivity is to facilitate economic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates having significant trade as one of the country's top trading partners along with a very strong Pakistani diaspora.

This development will coincide with the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the UAE in February while he attends the World Government Summit. In this visit, enhancing economic cooperation, trade, and employment opportunities for Pakistanis in the UAE is expected to take center stage. Complementing discussions regarding the enhancement of collaboration between the two countries through a concrete medium the new routes will be established.

Air connectivity development reflects the commitment of Pakistan and the UAE to further fortifying their historical ties. Citizens, businesses, and investors will now find traveling easier and relatively more affordable across the board. This can also be seen as part of a forward-looking approach toward mutual growth and collaboration, which will pave the way for even stronger ties in the years to come.

No Ban On Airing Imran's Speeches, Pemra Tells LHC

In a recent development, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) clarified to the Lahore High Court that there is no longer a ban on broadcasting former Prime Minister Imran Khan's speeches. This revelation came during the hearing of a petition filed by Imran, who had challenged Pemra's decision to prohibit satellite TV channels from airing his speeches and press talks. The initial ban was imposed swiftly after Imran criticized former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, accusing him of shielding current rulers in alleged corruption cases. Imran argued that Pemra's ban was fueled by vengeance, leading to a legal battle that spanned eight hearings. During the recent court session, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza stressed that Pemra should refrain from pressuring TV channels on the concerns raised by the petitioner. Surprisingly, Pemra's counsel, Haroon Duggal, stated unequivocally that there is no existing ban on broadcasting Imran Khan's speeches. This reso...
