Is Trump’s Two-Week Timeline for Ending the Iran War Realistic?

The latest declarations from the White House have sent shockwaves through global markets, as President Donald Trump suggests the U.S. could wind down its military campaign against Iran within two to three weeks. However, as domestic petrol prices climb past $4 a gallon and the Strait of Hormuz remains a volatile chokepoint, many are questioning if this mission accomplished narrative is premature. The reality on the ground characterized by a lack of formal negotiations and a mowing the lawn military strategy suggests that ending this conflict will be far more complex than a simple withdrawal. The Stone Age Strategy: Defining the U.S. Military Objective President Trump has pivoted from seeking a diplomatic grand bargain to a strategy of pure attrition. By stating that a deal is no longer necessary, he has redefined success as the degradation of Iran’s capabilities to the point of being put into the Stone Ages. This shift signals an Israelization of American war aims, where the goal is n...

Lahore - The HBL Pakistan Super League witnessed an electrifying player auction as the league’s two newly inducted franchises joined the existing teams in building their squads for the upcoming season, creating plenty of drama and excitement for cricket fans across the nation.

The auction hall was buzzing with energy as team owners, coaches, and management staff strategized over every pick, determined to assemble the perfect combination of local talent and international stars. It was a day that will be remembered in PSL history, marking the first time eight franchises competed for players instead of the usual six.

For the new franchises, this auction was their maiden opportunity to create an identity and build a team from scratch. Their picks were watched closely by everyone, as fans tried to guess what kind of cricket philosophy these teams would adopt. Would they go for experienced campaigners or invest in youth? The suspense kept everyone glued to their screens.

The bidding wars were intense, yaar! Some players saw their base prices skyrocket as multiple teams raised their paddles, each desperate to secure their preferred choice. Our Pakistani cricketers, both established stars and emerging talents, were in high demand throughout the auction, which is always heartening to see.

International players also attracted significant attention, with franchises looking to rope in marquee names who could add that extra spark to their lineups. The auction room erupted in cheers and groans as teams either successfully landed their targets or watched them slip away to rivals.

What made this auction particularly special was seeing our young domestic cricketers getting their big break. For many uncapped players, this was a life-changing moment - going from playing in local leagues to suddenly becoming part of Pakistan’s biggest cricketing extravaganza. You could see the emotion and excitement from their families watching from home.

The existing franchises also had tough decisions to make, needing to retain their core while making room for fresh additions. Some surprise releases before the auction had already set tongues wagging, and the auction itself brought more unexpected twists and turns.

The PCB conducted the proceedings smoothly, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout. The auction rules were clear, and every franchise had equal opportunity to build their dream team within the salary cap restrictions.

As the hammer fell on the final pick, all eight franchises walked away satisfied with their squads, each believing they had assembled a championship-winning combination. Only time will tell which team got their strategy right, but one thing’s for certain - this season’s PSL is going to be absolutely massive!

Now the real work begins for coaches and players as they prepare to battle it out on the field. Pakistani cricket fans, get ready for the most expanded and exciting PSL season yet. The stage is set, the teams are ready, and we simply can’t wait for the action to begin!
