Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the distribution of 100,000 free laptops among talented students across the country on merit, during an International Youth Day event in Islamabad on Tuesday. Premier stated that the distribution of these laptops will cover all four provinces, the federal capital Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, and will be based purely on merit, without any nepotism. He added that these laptops would be separate from the scheme for laptops through interest-based loans. Referring to Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the prime minister mentioned that Pakistan’s victory on May 10 against a numerically larger and more boastful enemy had instilled a new vigour in the entire nation. Saiyaara Becomes Mohit Suri’s 2nd Biggest Hit, Set to Surpass Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor’s Ek Villain as His Career Best

Director Mohit Suri’s latest musical romance “Saiyaara” has emerged as a phenomenal box office success, positioning itself to become the filmmaker’s career-best performance and surpass his previous highest-grossing film “Ek Villain” (2014) starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor.
Record-Breaking Opening Performance
Saiyaara collected Rs. 21.25 cr on its opening day, emerging as the 4th highest opening day grosser of 2025. The film, marking the debut of Ahaan Panday (Chunky Panday’s son) and featuring Aneet Padda, has defied all expectations with its extraordinary box office performance.
Within just five days of release, Saiyaara has collected a remarkable Rs 153.25 crore, showcasing unprecedented momentum for a romantic drama featuring newcomers. The film’s consistent performance has been equally impressive, with Saiyaara becoming the second highest first Tuesday grosser of 2025, outpacing star-driven hits.
Surpassing Mohit Suri’s Previous Best
The film is now poised to surpass Mohit Suri’s previous career-best “Ek Villain,” which earned over ₹100 crore domestically and had a worldwide gross of ₹170 crore, with a net collection of ₹ 105.76 crore. Ek Villain stands as highest grosser and the only 100 crore plus affair for the director - until now.
Saiyaara has become Mohit Suri’s highest-grossing release ever, with the film registering a jaw-dropping 225% jump compared to his early hit Murder 2 (2011) which had minted Rs. 47.90 crore at the domestic box office.
Global Success and Momentum
The film’s success extends beyond domestic markets. Saiyaara has crossed an insane Rs 200 crore worldwide in just 6 days, with Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda becoming global sensations. The film continues to maintain its strong performance, showing no signs of slowing down as it dominates the box office.
Creative Journey and Background
Interestingly, Saiyaara originated as a reworked idea from what was initially conceived as Aashiqui 3, a spiritual sequel to Mohit Suri’s 2013 hit Aashiqui 2. Creative differences led him to adapt the story independently. This creative decision has clearly paid off, as the film has resonated strongly with audiences.
Industry Impact
The success of “Saiyaara” is particularly significant in the current Bollywood landscape. Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ brings Bollywood romance back post-COVID, betting on love stories over spectacle with newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. In an era dominated by big-budget spectacles and established stars, the film’s success proves that well-crafted romantic dramas still have massive audience appeal.
Director’s Proven Track Record
Mohit Suri has established himself as a master of romantic cinema with hits like Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Ek Villain (2014). He directed the films Murder 2 (2011), the musical romance films Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Saiyaara (2025), the romantic action-thrillers Awarapan (2007), Ek Villain (2014) and Malang (2020).
Breaking Multiple Records
Saiyaara will soon become the highest grosser of Mohit Suri’s career, surpassing Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. The film has consistently outperformed expectations, establishing multiple records throughout its theatrical run.
Conclusion
“Saiyaara” represents more than just commercial success for Mohit Suri - it validates his vision of bringing back the golden era of Bollywood romance. With its trajectory pointing toward becoming his career-best film, “Saiyaara” is set to redefine benchmarks for romantic dramas in contemporary Indian cinema.
The film’s remarkable journey from a reworked concept to a record-breaking blockbuster demonstrates that compelling storytelling, memorable music, and emotional depth remain the cornerstones of cinematic success, regardless of star power or massive budgets. As “Saiyaara” continues its impressive box office run, it firmly establishes Mohit Suri as one of Bollywood’s most reliable directors for romantic entertainment.
