Pakistan’s Strategic Pivot: Why Islamabad is the New Power Broker in the Middle East

For decades, the global narrative surrounding Pakistan was one of "perpetual crisis"-a nation tethered to the volatile dynamics of Afghanistan and a frozen conflict with India. However, by April 2026, that narrative has been decisively shattered. Pakistan is no longer just a South Asian actor; it has evolved into a sophisticated "third pillar" of Middle Eastern security . In my view, this shift isn't just a diplomatic fluke. It is a calculated repositioning where Pakistan's role in Middle East security has become a mechanical necessity for both the U.S. and the Gulf monarchies. While the world watched the 2025 standoff with India with bated breath, they missed the real takeaway: Islamabad proved it could maintain nuclear deterrence and "level-headed" military restraint under extreme pressure. That competence has become a tradable currency in a Middle East weary of direct U.S. intervention. Aura so high that he is visiting Iran during an active war ...

Multan Sultans Eliminated from HBL PSL 10

In a disappointing turn of events, Multan Sultans have been officially eliminated from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 following a crushing defeat to Karachi Kings in their 20th match. The match took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 1, 2025, where the Sultans faced a daunting target of 205 runs set by the Kings. Unfortunately, the Sultans' batting lineup crumbled under pressure, leading to their downfall in the tournament .

The Sultans' innings got off to a disastrous start when their captain, Mohammad Rizwan, was dismissed for a second-ball duck in the second over. This early loss set the tone for a challenging chase, as the team struggled to build momentum. The situation worsened when wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan fell shortly after, leaving the Sultans reeling at 3-2 [1]. Despite a brief resistance from Yasir Khan, who scored 26 runs off 17 balls, the team found themselves in dire straits at 34-3 within the powerplay.

Kamran Ghulam was the only player to provide some stability in the middle order, scoring 28 runs before being dismissed. The rest of the batting lineup failed to deliver, with Curtis Campher playing a pivotal role for Karachi Kings by taking crucial wickets, including that of Mohammad Nabi and Iftikhar Ahmed. The Sultans' innings quickly deteriorated, and they were left at a dismal 88-8 before eventually being bowled out for just 90 runs.

Earlier in the match, Karachi Kings had set a formidable target, thanks to aggressive batting from their openers, Tim Seifert and David Warner. The Kings capitalized on their strong start, with James Vince contributing significantly to the total by scoring an unbeaten 65 runs. The Kings finished their innings at an impressive 204-4, showcasing their dominance throughout the match.

The defeat marks a disappointing end to the Sultans' campaign in PSL 10, as they managed to secure only one win out of eight matches. This performance has raised concerns about the team's strategy and execution, prompting discussions about potential changes for future tournaments. The Sultans' elimination highlights the competitive nature of the PSL and the challenges faced by teams in maintaining consistent performance.

As the tournament progresses, the focus will shift to the remaining teams vying for playoff spots. The Sultans' exit serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of T20 cricket, where any team can face challenges regardless of their lineup or past performances. Fans and analysts alike will be keen to see how the Sultans regroup and plan for the next season, aiming to return stronger and more competitive.

No Ban On Airing Imran's Speeches, Pemra Tells LHC

In a recent development, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) clarified to the Lahore High Court that there is no longer a ban on broadcasting former Prime Minister Imran Khan's speeches. This revelation came during the hearing of a petition filed by Imran, who had challenged Pemra's decision to prohibit satellite TV channels from airing his speeches and press talks. The initial ban was imposed swiftly after Imran criticized former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, accusing him of shielding current rulers in alleged corruption cases. Imran argued that Pemra's ban was fueled by vengeance, leading to a legal battle that spanned eight hearings. During the recent court session, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza stressed that Pemra should refrain from pressuring TV channels on the concerns raised by the petitioner. Surprisingly, Pemra's counsel, Haroon Duggal, stated unequivocally that there is no existing ban on broadcasting Imran Khan's speeches. This reso...
