Israel’s interception of Gaza flotilla draws global ire as Pakistan demands release of detained activists

Pakistan and several other  countries  on Thursday condemned Israel’s “dastardly attack” on the  Global Sumud Flotilla  (GSF) after its forces intercepted the flotilla heading to break Israel’s siege of Gaza and deliver aid. Israeli forces  began intercepting  the flotilla’s latest bid to reach Gaza late last night, the fleet said. Israel has so far intercepted 39 boats with foreign activists on board to Gaza, leaving only one vessel still sailing towards the Palestinian enclave, the flotilla organisers said today. The 45-vessel flotilla, with activists and politicians including  Greta Thunberg  on board, left Spain last month to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza, where the United Nations has warned of famine. Former Pakistani senator  Mushtaq Ahmad Khan  was also on board. Hours after Tel Aviv’s move drew global condemnation, Israeli foreign ministry posted on X that all on board the flotilla were safe would be “deported to Europe”...

UAE Delivers 288 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Amidst Worsening Crisis

In its latest move to provide relief to those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent a major shipment of 288 tonnes of aid. This substantial delivery, part of the UAE’s ongoing “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3,” aims to bring essential supplies to displaced Palestinian families struggling with limited access to basic necessities.

The shipment, transported via 20 trucks through the Egyptian Rafah Crossing, represents the UAE’s commitment to providing immediate relief to vulnerable communities. It includes a wide range of essential items, such as food, medical supplies, children’s nutritional supplements, clothing, shelter materials, and women’s health packages. These supplies are intended to address the most pressing needs of Palestinian families who have been displaced from their homes and are facing severe shortages of resources.

A Growing Commitment Through Operation Chivalrous Knight 3

This latest shipment is part of “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3,” an initiative launched by the UAE to support Gaza through successive waves of relief aid. With this delivery, the UAE has now sent 1,055 trucks to Gaza, bringing the total weight of aid to an impressive 17,312 tonnes. These continuous deliveries are a testament to the UAE’s sustained commitment to alleviating the suffering of displaced Palestinians during one of the region’s most critical humanitarian challenges.

The UAE’s response to the Gaza crisis through Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has evolved as the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate. By consistently providing humanitarian support, the UAE is helping to ensure that basic needs—such as food, shelter, healthcare, and hygiene—are met, even as the crisis escalates.

Addressing Specific Needs of Displaced Families

The aid package is designed to address various specific needs that arise from displacement. In addition to staple foods, the shipment includes medical supplies and health essentials tailored for different age groups and demographics, including children and women. For example, children’s nutritional supplements are crucial in a region where access to food has become increasingly scarce, while women’s health packages ensure that gender-specific needs are also considered.

Shelter materials are another critical part of this aid shipment, as many families in Gaza have been forced to leave their homes with few possessions. By supplying items that can be used for temporary shelters, the UAE aims to provide families with a sense of safety and security amid uncertain and often dangerous living conditions.

Building on Broader Regional Humanitarian Efforts

The UAE’s commitment to humanitarian assistance extends beyond Gaza. In recent months, the UAE has responded to humanitarian crises in Lebanon, providing aid to address challenges ranging from food insecurity to healthcare shortages. This regional approach underscores the UAE’s ongoing dedication to providing timely and practical support to communities facing emergencies across the Middle East.

By positioning itself as a consistent provider of humanitarian aid, the UAE has become a key partner in relief efforts across the region. This approach is especially relevant given the scale of the current crisis in Gaza, where repeated waves of aid continue to bring hope and relief to countless families in desperate need of assistance.

A Model of Regional Humanitarian Responsibility

As the UAE continues to send aid under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, its efforts serve as a model of regional responsibility and solidarity. By reaching 17,312 tonnes of aid and over 1,000 trucks in cumulative deliveries, the UAE reaffirms its role as a proactive contributor to humanitarian relief, with a strong focus on providing targeted, effective support for displaced communities.

For those affected by the Gaza crisis, these shipments are a lifeline, delivering essential items
