Israel’s interception of Gaza flotilla draws global ire as Pakistan demands release of detained activists

  Pakistan and several other  countries  on Thursday condemned Israel’s “dastardly attack” on the  Global Sumud Flotilla  (GSF) after its forces intercepted the flotilla heading to break Israel’s siege of Gaza and deliver aid. Israeli forces  began intercepting  the flotilla’s latest bid to reach Gaza late last night, the fleet said. Israel has so far intercepted 39 boats with foreign activists on board to Gaza, leaving only one vessel still sailing towards the Palestinian enclave, the flotilla organisers said today. The 45-vessel flotilla, with activists and politicians including  Greta Thunberg  on board, left Spain last month to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza, where the United Nations has warned of famine. Former Pakistani senator  Mushtaq Ahmad Khan  was also on board. Hours after Tel Aviv’s move drew global condemnation, Israeli foreign ministry posted on X that all on board the flotilla were safe would be “deported to Europe”...

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Receives Warm Welcome in Pakistan

 


Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Islamabad on Thursday to a warm and ceremonial welcome from the Pakistani government. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally greeted his Malaysian counterpart at the Prime Minister House, underscoring the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.


As the two leaders stood side by side at the entrance, the national anthems of both Pakistan and Malaysia were played, reflecting the brotherly relations between the countries. This was followed by an inspection of the guard of honor by Prime Minister Anwar, where a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces, in full military regalia, presented a formal salute.


Strengthening Diplomatic Ties


The visit marks an important moment in the ongoing diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, with both countries keen on strengthening their bilateral cooperation in trade, defense, and regional stability. After the formal greetings, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced his cabinet members to the visiting leader, while Prime Minister Anwar reciprocated by introducing his delegation.


The symbolism of unity and friendship was further reinforced when Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim participated in a ceremonial tree-planting event at the Prime Minister House. The act represented the deep-rooted and growing ties between Malaysia and Pakistan, as both nations look forward to more collaborative ventures in the future.
