Pakistan Successfully Test-Fires Shaheen-II Ballistic Missile, Validates Key Technical Parameters

 On August 20, 2024, Pakistan successfully conducted a training launch of the Shaheen-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile, marking a significant milestone in its defense capabilities. The launch, conducted by the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) of the Pakistan Army, aimed to validate various technical parameters and train the troops involved. The test also focused on evaluating the performance of different sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability.


The Shaheen-II missile is a vital component of Pakistan’s strategic arsenal, capable of delivering conventional and nuclear warheads. With a range of up to 1,500 kilometers, it is designed to provide a credible deterrent against any potential adversary. The missile’s successful test underscores Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a robust and reliable defense posture, ensuring its ability to respond effectively to any threat.


The launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, and scientists and engineers from various strategic organizations. The Director General of the SPD praised the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of the scientists and engineers who contributed to this achievement. The successful test was also lauded by Pakistan’s top leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, who congratulated the team on this accomplishment.


This launch is part of Pakistan’s routine exercises aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of its missile systems. It highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance its strategic deterrence capabilities in the face of evolving security challenges
