United Arab Emirates in partnership with World Health Organisation (WHO) has launched a humanitarian mission to providing de critical medical assistance to Palestinian from Gaza. This initiative is it a response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis involving the urgent evacuation of severely injured and ill individuals to Abu Dhabi for advanced medical treatment. A total of 148 Palestinian are about to be evacuated out of which 85 are severely injured.
The operation known as operation gallant Knight 3, is a broader vision of UAE humanitarian campaign to support those who are affected by the conflict in Gaza. The initiative aims to treat up to 1000 Palestinian children and adults with the first group having already arrived in the UAE.
On November 18, 2023 the first group of 18 children along with their family members arrive in Abu Dhabi, these children landed in Abu Dhabi transported from Gaza via Egypt. Children were provided with immediate medical facilities as they were having injuries and were suffering from trauma.
The UAE’s initiative is not just about providing immediate medical care; it’s also a testament to the country’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian aid. The UAE has set up a comprehensive support system, including specialized medical facilities and expert teams, to ensure that all evacuees receive the best possible care. The efforts are being coordinated with WHO to ensure international standards of healthcare and support are met. The program will continue to bring in more groups, focusing on those with severe medical needs that cannot be adequately addressed in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict and healthcare infrastructure limitations. The UAE has also planned additional support measures, such as building desalination plants to improve water supply in Gaza, further demonstrating their commitment to long-term support for Palestinian well-being.
This joint effort by the UAE and WHO showcases the power of international collaboration in addressing humanitarian crises. By providing a lifeline to the most vulnerable, this initiative not only offers immediate relief but also embodies a broader hope for recovery and peace in the region.
