In a tragic incident on july 15, 2024 eight security personnel were martyred in a suicide targeting in Bannu Cantonment in Pakistan. The attack carried out by The Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, involved ten terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the cantonment. When their entry was thwarted by the vigilant security forces, they denoted an explosive-laden vehical against the perimeter wall, causing significant damage and the loss of eight brave soldiers.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Havildar Zil-e-Hussain, Havildar Shahzad Ahmed, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain Khan, Sepoy Sobhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, Sepoy Arsalan Aslam, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali. These soldiers hailed from different regions across Pakistan showing nationwide representation within the armed forces.
Following the blast the security forces engaged the terrorist in the fierce gunfight, successfully eliminated all ten attackers.
Operation prevented a potentially larger
catastrophe and saved numerous lives. The swift and effective response of the security forces underscored their commitment to combating terrorism and protecting nation.
The ISPR attributed the attacks to the millitants operating from Afghanistan, highlighting cross border terrorism issues.
