Pakistan Celebrates National Day in UAE with Diplomatic Reception

Here’s how to apply for CM Punjab solar panel scheme




Lahore - The Punjab government has launched a new scheme to promote the use of solar energy across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently announced the 'Chief Minister Roshan Gharana' program which aims to distribute 50,000 solar home systems through a ballot system. 

As per the details, 50,000 households who use up to 100 units of electricity per month will be eligible to receive a free solar panel system. The systems will include solar plates, inverters, batteries and other required components to allow residents to meet their energy needs through solar power. 


Here's how to apply for CM Punjab 2023 solar panel scheme


Eligibility and criteria: 


- Applicant must be a legal resident of Punjab province

- Monthly electricity consumption should be up to 100 units 

- Property must be owned by the applicant or proper authorization obtained from owner


Application process:


The application process will be entirely online for the convenience of citizens. Additionally, applications can also be submitted at any branch of National Bank of Pakistan.


Step 1) Visit the official website of CM Roshan Gharana 2023 at www.roshangharana.punjab.gov.pk 


Step 2) Register your account by providing CNIC and other details


Step 3) Log into your account and fill the online application form 


Step 4) Upload scanned copies of CNIC, latest electricity bill and property documents 


Step 5) Submit your application after review and verification


Successful applicants will be informed via SMS. Solar home systems including panels, battery, inverter etc will then be installed at their premises free of cost. 

The scheme aims to provide 100,000 households with access to clean and low-cost solar energy. It is part of the Punjab government's efforts to promote use of renewable resources and reduce energy costs for citizens.



The project has a budget of Rs. 12.6 billion and will be implemented in phases. In the first phase, 50,000 households will be selected through balloting. Subsequently, other consumers will also be provided with home-based solar systems on a gradual basis. 


Successful applicants will be notified through SMS once their application is approved. The required solar equipment will then be installed free of cost at their premises.


This initiative aims to promote renewable energy and reduce household electricity bills by providing access to clean solar power across Punjab. It is part of the government's efforts to shift towards environmentally friendly sources of energy.
