Islamabad, Pakistan - PTI backed independent candidate and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser has criticized PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for his comments in his post-election 'victory speech'.
Speaking to the media, Qaiser said that Nawaz Sharif's claims of upholding the dignity of the vote are belied by his speech, which Qaiser says insulted the electoral process.
Qaiser pointed out that according to results so far, PTI has won the most seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and at the federal level. He said this shows PTI's strength across these key regions and provides a solid foundation for the party to form governments.
The former NA speaker hinted that PTI may first pursue negotiations with minor parties to form collaborative governments. However, he also said PTI will approach the courts over constituencies where they believe results were disputed.
Qaiser termed the 2024 general election as one of the most controversial in Pakistan's history. He alleged that results were rigged in several areas.
When asked about forming a coalition with PPP, Qaiser refused to comment for now but said discussions with PPP are not currently on the table. He said PTI chairman Imran Khan will take decisions in this regard after meeting on Saturday with supporters outside Adiala Jail.
The criticism from Qaiser shows the conflict between PTI and PMLN continues even after the polls. The results have been disputed by both sides, setting the stage for further political wrangling in the coming days.
