Pakistan Celebrates National Day in UAE with Diplomatic Reception

  The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosted a grand reception today to commemorate Pakistan's National Day, attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior UAE government officials, Emirati nationals, and the Pakistani community. WHO Urgently Appeals for $1.5 Billion to Tackle Global Health Crises

 The World Health Organization (WHO) is urgently seeking $1.5 billion in funding to address health needs in numerous humanitarian crises worldwide.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the goal of providing life-saving assistance to around 87 million people, spanning regions such as Ukraine, Gaza, and Afghanistan.

The occupied Palestinian Territories, notably Gaza, face a critical health emergency, requiring $219 million to address immediate needs. The global health emergencies demanding significant attention also include the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19 and the situation in Afghanistan, where 23.7 million people urgently need access to clean water and sanitation.

Tedros stressed the importance of swift and flexible funding, stating that a reactive approach is insufficient. The WHO’s plea highlights the crucial need for international support to prevent dire consequences and underscores the cost of inaction that the world cannot afford.
