Mohsin Dawar Safe After Attack On Vehicle In North Waziristan’s Miranshah

In a tense turn of events, former lawmaker and NDM Chairman Mohsin Dawar narrowly escaped unharmed as his vehicle faced gunfire during an election campaign in Miranshah, North Waziristan. Fortunately, the bulletproof vehicle and swift response from security guards prevented any harm.

The attack, employing sub-machine guns, underscores the challenges faced by candidates in the region. Dawar, in a social media post, highlighted the increasing terrorism, linking it to state policies regarding the Taliban. The NDM demanded an immediate investigation and heightened security measures for candidates in the upcoming elections.

Dawar himself recounted the morning attack, revealing that assailants, armed with AK-47s and even preparing a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), retreated after facing gunfire from his companions. He questioned the absence of military intervention and pledged to expose any hidden agendas.

NDM founding member Bushra Gohar strongly condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. This incident follows the grim discovery of six barbers’ bodies in North Waziristan and a separate blast near JUI-F candidate Qari Khairullah’s car in Bajaur, adding to the escalating concerns over election-related violence.

As political tensions rise, the demand for comprehensive security measures gains urgency, ensuring a level playing field for candidates and preserving the democratic process in the face of evolving challenges.
