Why the New Abu Dhabi MGX AI Fund Changes Global Tech Forever

The technology sector just witnessed a seismic shift. With the announcement that Abu Dhabi’s tech investment vehicle, MGX, has raised a staggering US$49 billion for a dedicated artificial intelligence fund, the global tech landscape has officially entered a new era. This is not just another venture capital pool; the Abu Dhabi MGX AI fund represents a massive institutional validation of AI as the defining economic engine of the next century. By eclipsing its original US$45 billion target, MGX isn't merely participating in the tech boom-it is aggressively positioning itself to dictate its direction. What makes the new Abu Dhabi MGX AI fund a game-changer? In my view, the sheer scale of this fund alters the venture capital ecosystem entirely. Raising US$49 billion in a climate where some tech stocks are experiencing volatility shows incredible contrarian conviction. This capital gives MGX unmatched structural leverage. The fund allows Abu Dhabi to anchor the most capital-intensive pr...

‘Do Not Get Used To Suffering’ In Gaza, Salah Says In Christmas Message

In a rare commentary on the ongoing Gaza conflict, Mohamed Salah, the renowned Liverpool forward, shared a touching Christmas message, urging not to forget the families affected by the violence. Salah, who had faced criticism for his initial silence, posted a black-and-white image of a Christmas tree on his social media platforms, reaching out to his millions of followers.

The conflict escalated when Hamas militants launched a cross-border rampage on Oct 7, leading to intense bombardment by Israel. Salah acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “With the brutal war going on in the Middle East, especially the death and destruction in Gaza, this year we get to Christmas with very heavy hearts.”

The footballer emphasized the importance of not becoming desensitized to the suffering and urged people not to forget the grieving families. Salah’s message comes after his significant donation to aid the people of Gaza, as confirmed by Egyptian Red Crescent officials in October.

While Salah’s initial silence sparked criticism in his native Egypt, his Christmas message reflects his growing engagement with the conflict. In his first comments on the matter in October, Salah called for an end to what he described as “massacres” and appealed for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza.

As the football star continues to use his platform to raise awareness about the plight in Gaza, his Christmas message serves as a reminder of the human cost of the conflict and the need for international attention and support.

More than 1 mln people evacuated from Pakistan's Punjab due to floods

Pakistan 's eastern towns of Chiniot and Hafizabad face a risk of catastrophic floods if an irrigation barrage crumbles on a major river upstream after heavy rains swelled it beyond capacity, officials warned on Thursday. Nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan are battling torrential monsoon rains that have unleashed flash floods , swelled rivers and filled dams, with 60 deaths this month in Indian Kashmir , and Pakistan's toll at 805 since late June. Any  flooding blamed on India stands to inflame relations between the archfoes, embroiled in a tense stand-off since a brief conflict in May that was their worst fighting in decades. The waters of the Chenab river in Pakistan's sprawling province of Punjab threatened to burst through a 3,300-foot (1,000-m) concrete barrage at Qadirabad that regulates flows, siphoning them into a canal irrigation network. "It is a crisis situation," said a technical expert at the National Disaster Management Authority ...

Young Shaheens’ Campaign Starts on a Sour Note: England Beat Pakistan by 37 Runs in U19 World Cup Opener

Well, that wasn’t the start we were hoping for, was it? Our young guns stumbled right out of the gates at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Harare, losing to England by 37 runs on Friday. And honestly, it hurts a bit more because we know these boys have it in them. England posted 210 runs in their innings, and Pakistan could only manage 173 in response, getting bowled out with still a few overs to spare. The batting lineup just never really got going, and that’s putting it mildly. Bowlers Did Their Job, Batters Couldn’t Deliver Credit where it’s due our bowling attack did exactly what we asked of them. Ahmed Hussain was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/38, while Abdul Subhan chipped in with 2/24 . They restricted England to what looked like a very chaseable total on paper. Honestly, 210 should’ve been within reach for these lads. The problem? Our batting completely collapsed. Pakistan were staring at a massive defeat at 85 for 6 before skipper Farhan Yousaf decided to take matt...
