Zaman's Heroics and Rain's Drama: Pakistan's Sensational Victory Keeps World Cup Dreams Alive

In a cricketing spectacle in Bengaluru, Fakhar Zaman emerged as the savior for Pakistan, crafting a scintillating century to secure a dramatic 21-run win over New Zealand in a rain-affected clash. Zaman's unbeaten 126, featuring 11 sixes and eight boundaries, propelled Pakistan to 200-1 in pursuit of a revised target of 342 in 41 overs.

Facing the monumental challenge of a 402-run target initially, Zaman's fearless innings guided Pakistan to 160-1 in 21.3 overs before rain intervened, leading to a revised goal. After the interruption, Zaman's onslaught continued, including three sixes off Ish Sodhi's over, propelling Pakistan beyond the 200-run mark.

The partnership between Zaman and skipper Babar Azam (66) proved pivotal, adding 194 for an unbroken second-wicket stand. Zaman's aggressive approach against the New Zealand bowlers, culminating in his 11th ODI hundred, marked a historic moment for him and Pakistan's World Cup campaign.

As Pakistan now stands with eight points from as many games, the path to the semi-finals is clear but challenging. The upcoming clash against England on November 11 in Kolkata is a must-win, coupled with the need for New Zealand to lose to Sri Lanka on November 9 in Bengaluru, or the match being affected by rain.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand set an imposing total of 401-6, courtesy of Rachin Ravindra's third century of the tournament (108) and Kane Williamson's resilient 95. Despite Mohammad Wasim's standout performance with the ball (3-60), Pakistan's bowlers faced a daunting task as New Zealand's batsmen displayed their prowess on a dry Chinnaswamy pitch.

The nail-biting contest, marked by Zaman's brilliance, has added a new layer of excitement to the World Cup narrative. Can Pakistan continue this momentum and secure a spot in the semi-finals? The cricketing world awaits the answer as the tournament unfolds."
