 The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in the spotlight as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the party to conduct intra-party elections within a tight timeframe of 20 days to retain its symbol, the ‘bat.’ This decision follows a series of warnings and legal developments that have raised questions about the party’s adherence to election regulations. In August, the ECP issued a final warning to PTI, emphasizing the need for intra-party elections to maintain eligibility for its election symbol. However, the ECP contended that the constitution was amended on June 8, 2022, followed by intra-party polls on June 10, 2022.
