The Pakistan speedster leads the pack in the latest MRF Worldwide ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings. |
Pakistan's cricket sensation, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has claimed the top spot in cricket's bowler rankings, surpassing Australian Josh Hazlewood. Despite this personal achievement, Afridi's primary focus remains on steering the Green Shirts through the World Cup.
At just 23 years old, Afridi's stellar performance includes 16 wickets in the tournament. His recent triumph against Bangladesh, where he secured 3-23, not only contributed to Pakistan's seven-wicket victory but also marked his 100th ODI wicket.
Delighted with the milestone, Afridi emphasized, "the biggest thing is that all these wickets are for Pakistan, and my goal is always to do something that helps us win."
Afridi's success in India is noteworthy for adapting his strategy due to the lack of swing, a challenge he anticipated after observing the IPL matches. "I knew there will be less swing, so the effort is on keeping a proper line and length, and that is very important," he explained.
Acknowledging the support of his fellow bowlers, Afridi praised Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim for their contributions in the recent match against Bangladesh. With six points from seven games, Pakistan faces a crucial stage, needing victories in their remaining matches and favorable outcomes in other games to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
As Shaheen Shah Afridi continues to lead Pakistan's bowling attack, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the team's journey through the rest of the World Cup, hopeful for more memorable performances.
