Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Maryam Nawaz's son Junaid Safdar had tied the knot with Ayesha Saif Khan in August this year. However, their marriage did not last long and Junaid has now confirmed that they are divorced.
While the justification for their unexpected split has not been uncovered formally, sources near the family have uncovered that similarity issues between Junaid and Ayesha were a main consideration in their choice to head out in different directions.
Junaid and Ayesha's personalities and interests did not seem to gel well according to people close to the couple. They often engaged in arguments on trivial domestic matters. Political differences between their families also created tensions.
Ayesha, who comes from a politically connected but non-political family, found it difficult to adjust to the high-profile and politically active lifestyle of Junaid's family, the sources added.
Moreover, Maryam Nawaz's aggressive style of politics was not something Ayesha approved of either. She preferred keeping away from the limelight and controversies, which clashed with Maryam and Junaid's public persona.
The young couple determined their issues yet neglected to foster shared understanding and close-to-home closeness throughout the long term. This in the long run prompted the breakdown of their marriage within only three months of sealing the deal.
While it is disappointing for both families, people close to them say the divorce decision was taken amicably to prevent further friction in their relationship. Junaid and Ayesha will continue to stay separated.
