Why UAE Aid to Gaza Shows the Power of Strategic Humanity

The UAE recently dispatched a massive 40-lorry aid convoy loaded with 540 tonnes of Eid clothing for the children of Gaza. Part of the broader Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 initiated by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this delivery is more than just material support. In my view, it represents a crucial masterclass in how modern, targeted humanitarian aid should be executed during geopolitical crises. When war strips a population of its infrastructure, the psychological toll on the youngest generation is often neglected. Delivering traditional necessities like food and water is obviously vital, but restoring a sense of cultural identity and dignity through Eid clothing targets a different kind of poverty: the poverty of hope. The UAE’s targeted approach shows an understanding that effective relief must heal both the physical and emotional wounds of a community. What is Operation Chivalrous Knight 3? Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Urges Foolproof Arrangements as Punjab Braces for Heavy Rain and River Flooding

In the face of impending heavy rain and the looming threat of river flooding, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued clear instructions to authorities to ensure foolproof arrangements for handling a potential flood-like situation in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers. As many cities in Punjab anticipate spells of heavy rain today and tomorrow (July 11), concerns escalate with the increased water discharge downstream due to incessant downpours in India's northern states.

The directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reflect a proactive approach to mitigate the impact of potential floods and protect the safety and well-being of the citizens. The urgency stems from the rise in water levels and the need to make necessary preparations to safeguard lives and properties in the affected areas.

In recent days, the situation has already necessitated timely rescue operations. Just a day earlier, 95 individuals, including five Rangers personnel, were stranded near the Ravi and Tawi rivers. Thankfully, swift action and rescue efforts led to their safe retrieval as the water levels rose to perilous heights.

The impending heavy rain and the likelihood of river flooding highlight the importance of comprehensive disaster management and preparedness. By prioritizing safety, the government can effectively respond to the challenges posed by natural calamities and mitigate their adverse effects.

The instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscore the gravity of the situation and emphasize the need for proactive measures. It is essential for authorities to streamline their efforts in implementing flood protection strategies, deploying necessary resources, and ensuring effective communication to keep the public informed and safe.

As Punjab braces for heavy rain and potential river flooding, it is crucial for communities to remain vigilant and follow the guidance of local authorities. By adhering to safety instructions and staying informed through weather updates, individuals can contribute to their own well-being and that of their fellow citizens.

Ultimately, collective efforts, robust disaster management protocols, and proactive measures will help mitigate the impact of natural disasters and protect lives and properties. The government's commitment to ensuring foolproof arrangements in the face of potential floods is a testament to their dedication to public safety and the well-being of the nation.

No Ban On Airing Imran's Speeches, Pemra Tells LHC

In a recent development, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) clarified to the Lahore High Court that there is no longer a ban on broadcasting former Prime Minister Imran Khan's speeches. This revelation came during the hearing of a petition filed by Imran, who had challenged Pemra's decision to prohibit satellite TV channels from airing his speeches and press talks. The initial ban was imposed swiftly after Imran criticized former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, accusing him of shielding current rulers in alleged corruption cases. Imran argued that Pemra's ban was fueled by vengeance, leading to a legal battle that spanned eight hearings. During the recent court session, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza stressed that Pemra should refrain from pressuring TV channels on the concerns raised by the petitioner. Surprisingly, Pemra's counsel, Haroon Duggal, stated unequivocally that there is no existing ban on broadcasting Imran Khan's speeches. This reso...
