Peshawar University Announces Winter Holidays

  The University of Peshawar has officially announced its winter vacation schedule for the 2025–26 academic session. According to the notification, the university will remain closed from December 22, 2025, to January 3, 2026. During this period, all academic and administrative offices will be closed. However, the university has emphasized that all scheduled exams and tests will continue as planned, and students are advised to follow the existing academic timetable. University authorities stated that the winter break is part of the seasonal academic calendar and aims to give students and staff adequate time to rest and prepare for the upcoming term. Regular classes and administrative operations will resume on January 3, 2026.

Unveiling India's Savagery: The Urgent Call for International Accountability


 The ongoing atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have reached a tipping point, demanding immediate attention from the international community. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's powerful condemnation of India's flagrant disregard for international law and human rights during his address to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly resonates with a desperate plea for justice. It is a call to action that cannot be ignored.

The foreign minister rightly questions whether a nation should be allowed to renege on its solemn commitments to the United Nations, trample upon its own promises, and brazenly violate international law with impunity. The UN Security Council resolutions pertaining to the Kashmir issue hold a sacred status that must not be diminished by the whims of a jingoistic political party or the passage of time. These resolutions, designed to restore the fundamental rights and self-determination of the Kashmiri people, must be upheld without compromise.

India's audacious decision to host a G20 tourism working group meeting in the occupied territory only exacerbates the situation. By doing so, India not only misuses its position as the G20 chair but also showcases its arrogance on the world stage. The international community must not turn a blind eye to this act of aggression, but rather stand firm in recognizing the disputed nature of IIOJK under international law.

The plight of Kashmiri Muslims cannot be ignored or downplayed. IIOJK has transformed into an open-air prison where thousands have been killed, disappeared, or blinded. Their lands have been confiscated, properties bulldozed, and their culture systematically eroded. The draconian laws implemented by India provide impunity to occupying forces, enabling a perpetual cycle of violence and human rights violations. This flagrant disregard for international law not only shatters the accepted norms of human rights but also undermines the fabric of justice and accountability.

The international community has a moral obligation to address this humanitarian crisis and hold India accountable for its actions. It is not wise to sacrifice timeless principles for short-term interests. The world must rally behind the cause of justice and ensure that those responsible for the savagery in IIOJK face the consequences of their actions.

Immediate steps must be taken to establish an international mechanism for monitoring and documenting human rights abuses in IIOJK. This mechanism should have the power to investigate and hold accountable all individuals involved in gross violations, regardless of their position or affiliation. It is essential to impose targeted sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for the atrocities, thereby sending a clear message that such acts will not go unpunished.

Moreover, diplomatic pressure should be exerted on India to engage in meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders, including the Kashmiri leadership, to find a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute. The voices of the Kashmiri people must be heard, and their right to self-determination respected.

The international community must heed the urgent call for action. The time for empty rhetoric and diplomatic niceties is over. Lives are being lost, families torn apart, and an entire population is suffering. Let us stand together in solidarity with the oppressed and work tirelessly to ensure that justice prevails. The savagery in IIOJK must be exposed, condemned, and swiftly addressed, for the sake of humanity and the principles upon which our global community is founded.
